Since 2022, Revista Historia y Patrimonio has made its final publication content available free of charge, without any restrictions or conditions, under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NonDerivs 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 DEED) license. This is done on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports greater global knowledge sharing. There is no embargo period and no registration required for users.

The journal does not charge any fee for editing, layout, and publication of the contributions it receives.

Revista Historia y Patrimonio adheres to the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI), emphasizing open access, open copyright licensing, and open archives. It is committed to unrestricted access to published works, which are available in the “Archives” section.

Revista Historia y Patrimonio is defined as a publication in which the copyright holder grants rights of use to third parties through an open license (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 DEED). This allows for free and immediate access to the articles and authorizes any user to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, link to the full texts, crawl them for indexing, transfer them to software, or use them for any legal purpose that does not involve modification of the content.
