During the Inter-American Housing Research and Training Center (CINVA)'s existence, four Chilean professionals stood out for their contributions to construction science, becoming international experts. This article reviews their legacy and attempts to demonstrate that it was the result of ongoing work on topics such as soil-cement, which were considered fundamental to the practices and discourses surrounding social housing and economic development. The research is based on primary sources, some previously unpublished, housed in the CINVA collection of the Central and Historical Archives of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia.
